Content decreases with age, however, so that joints start to “crunch” and skin becomes wrinkly. Chemically speaking, hyaluronic acid is a linear polysaccharide from sugar derivatives. These act like a “water magnet” and provide hyaluronic acid with the ability to bind up to six liters of water per gram. It is this outstanding property that makes hyaluronic acid so interesting.
